Doggy Layer Cake

Ingredients: 3 cups organic flour .1 T. baking powder .1/2 cup margarine, softened 6 organic, vegetarian eggs, beaten 1/2 cup corn oil, 2 jars  strained organic  chicken baby food, or freshly ground organic turkey, 1 cup finely shredded organic carrots  ,1 cup pureed broccoli, organic plain yogurt ,6 strips of crispy bacon bits.Try to only use organic products.

Preheat oven 325F

Method: Grease and flour two 8″ round cake pans. In a mixing bowl, beat softened margarine until smooth. Add eggs and corn oil, mix well. Add strained chicken and shredded carrots, mix until smooth. Add flour and baking powder and mix thoroughly, (mix should resemble light batter) Pour batter into the 2 prepared 8″ cake pans. Bake for approximately 45 minutes. Let the doggie birthday cake cool for a few minutes .

Icing the cake: Place one layer on a serving plate and spread yogurt over top. Then add a second layer and repeat for each layer. Spread yogurt on top and sides of entire cake and sprinkle crumbled bacon or bits of jerky strips over top. You can use pepperoni sticks  or  regular candles.

Prepare a layer cake as above. Then place one layer on a serving plate, spread yogurt over top and place the second cake on top. Tint remaining yogurt with blue food coloring and cover half of the cake, to look like the sea. Cover remaining cake with peanut butter and sprinkle with crumbled bacon or jerky, to look like the shore. Finally, decorate with organic dog treats or spirulina sprinkles(vitamins) on the sand and dolphin in the sea, with “Pupperoni” sticks as palm trees (candle-style!).Use play play dolphins but remember that they are not edibles. If you want to create mini waves, spread some white yogurt flecks into the blue ocean part of the cake.

If you prefer dog cupcakes, use same recipe and make enough cupcakes for all the canine guests.

Enjoy!
